Dimond Post Office

Federal agencies are reviewing potential post office closures but there was not a list of closures at the time this issue of MacArthur Metro went to press. The Dimond post office, 2226 MacArthur Blvd., Oakland, CA 94602, serves several residential areas along with an active senior population. Residents are encouraged to write letters voicing concern about this possible closure to: U.S. Representative Barbara Lee, 1301 Clay St. #1000-N, Oakland, CA 94612; and City of Oakland Postmaster Gooch, U.S. Post Office, 201 13th St. #212, Oakland, CA 94612-9998. Area residents and organizations are working on a plan to support the Dimond post office prior to finalization of closures. Email krussell\@russell-gordon.com or call 842-3200, to be added to the committee list, or watch for postings on Dimond email list. Appreciation to Richard Cowan, Chief of Staff, Councilmember Jean Quan's office, for researching the current status.
